Incommunicado 05

Incommunicado.05 was a two-day working conference (15/06 – 17/06) working towards a critical survey of the current state of ‘info-development’, also known as ‘ICT4D’ (ICT for development). The subtitle to the conference said it all: “Information Technology for everybody else…”

This conference was organised by the Institute of Network Cultures and the research netwok Incommunicado. It was in first instance a reaction against the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) which lacked a critique of the too narrow concept of the ‘Digital Divide’.

“Instead, a more complex map of actors, networked in a global info-politics, is emerging.”

Reports of the different key note lectures and sessions can be found on the weblog of the Institute of Network Cultures.
