It has arrived!
The book on VJ7, a paper archive of the event Verbindingen/Jonctions 7.
We already have a reader 🙂
It has taken me ages to put images on the blog – I am a sound person – busy with sound and sound of course.
In preparation there will also be a little film – my brain has been bending in all directions to try some video editing. There are a lot more possibilities than with sound. Also, what is the right compression format, the most democratic one? Not to heavy, good quality, as open standard as possible (hard one, that!). Advice is welcome. If everything works out, I will put the little film online tonight. You are warned.
In the mean time, I have put some more pictures online. Ok, from the cover, but the cover is really nice. It simulates tape, and tape… (fill in for yourself).

Transmediale 04. Fly Utopia! Conference Report

The Transmediale 04. Fly Utopia! – Conference explored ‘the potential of utopian ideas in an age that is suffering from a hangover of too many social and technological utopias in the 20th century and from an inability of projecting ourselves beyond the current cultural and political crisis.’ The two day conference was dedicated to ‘an exploration of the currency of utopia in fields such as art, design, architecture, social and political philosophy, bio-technology and mobile communication.’ Past and present Utopian art and cultural projects were presented, as well as critical analyses of the pitfalls of Utopian dreams and promises.

Digitales in Antwerp

On Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, the Digitales working days took place in Atel.

Atel
Atel startte in Antwerpen in 1991 als Atec, een buurtgericht opleidingsproject van de Buurtontwikkelingsmaatschappij. In de daaropvolgende jaren is Atel uitgegroeid tot opleidingscentrum in nieuwe technologieën, dat jaarlijks meer dan 300 cursisten opleidt en begeleidt naar tewerkstelling. Daarnaast vormt Atel nog steeds de link tussen ICT en de buurtbewoners van Antwerpen-Noord.
Atel is gespecialiseerd in opleidingen voor bedienden in verschillende domeinen: informatica, telecommunicatie (ICT en telemarketing) en administratie. Deze specialisatie zorgt voor een kwalitatief hoog opleidingsaanbod en een aangepaste infrastructuur, met moderne PC-voorzieningen en ruim uitgeruste call centers . Inhoudelijk zijn de opleidingsprogramma’s altijd afgestemd op vragen vanuit de bedrijfswereld, en op het instapniveau van de cursisten.
Via een persoonlijke aanpak slaagt Atel erin de noden van de bedrijven en de individuele wensen, capaciteiten en persoonlijkheid van cursisten op elkaar af te stemmen. Resultaat: tevreden bedrijven die met plezier hun huidige en toekomstige noden meedelen ̩n Рminstens even belangrijk! Рgelukkige cursisten die hun plaats vinden op de arbeidsmarkt.

They can be thought of as resembling a online chat space, except that one create and leave virtual objects and spaces. “[…] “We will use the space at Digitales as a starting point for the virtual space.
